This Trendy Soft Crop Style Stole Our Hearts and Heads

When winter 2023 hit, the hair scene was rocked by a whisper-light cut that packed a punch – the soft crop. This revamped pixie-style haircut, with its gentle edges and breezy vibe, became the talk of the town, gracing the heads of trendsetters and becoming the ultimate must-have look haircut for this season. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cxim-MXvRFz/ Experts link its origins to the iconic Linda Evangelista crop of the '90s, but this time around, it’s got a twist. Think of it as the classic crop’s softer, more grown-out cousin. Those wispy edges? They're all about a relaxed, lived-in feel rather than a freshly-cut look. https://www.instagram.com/p/CjpfPcNj-7Z/ Who's Rocking It? If your hair's straight to slightly wavy, you’re in luck. The soft crop flatters hair types 1 and 2 by enhancing volume and allowing playful styling with its adaptable length. For those with curly locks, adding layers boosts the curls, while coily hair benefits from shaping for a gorgeous look. Overall, shorter lengths highlight texture beautifully! [caption id="attachment_65812" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @frankie_inv[/caption] For a soft crop that’s your perfect match, tweak it to complement your face shape! Round faces can play with side-swept bangs for definition, while square faces benefit from softer edges. Oval faces rock this cut effortlessly, while for heart-shaped faces, longer side tresses soften the look. Plus, it's a match made in heaven for various hair colors. From delicate blonde shades to jet-black hues to natural grays, a soft crop amplifies hair color by showcasing dimension, texture, and volume, making hues pop effortlessly and beautifully. [caption id="attachment_65814" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @we_professional[/caption] Salon Talk: What to Ask For When you're ready for that chic soft crop, have a chat with your stylist! Request a textured cut with shorter layers up top and tapered sides. Keep some length for styling versatility! Dry cutting is key to shape and contouring for that perfect textured finish. [caption id="attachment_65815" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @stanleyman001[/caption] Style Secrets Styling the soft crop opens up a world of possibilities! You can play with your parting, sweeping your hair to the side. Longer rear locks allow a playful flick at the back. Texturizing spray creates that effortless tousled finish or opt for a gel for a sleek, wet look. Experiment with headbands, barrettes, scarves, or clips to jazz up your look for a special occasion. Pair a soft crop with chunky scarves and turtlenecks for an effortlessly cool vibe. [caption id="attachment_65817" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @ryennesnow[/caption] Maintenance Made Easy The upkeep of this low-maintenance cut is a breeze! Finger-style your hair to preserve its flowy nature – avoid excessive combing that can mess with the relaxed charm of a soft crop. Embrace the freedom from heat styling; this cut thrives without hairdryers or hot tools. Minimize product use to avoid a limp, untidy look. Just a trim every 4-6 weeks keeps that fab shape and volume intact. In a nutshell, the soft crop is the epitome of cute meets laid-back, stealing hearts worldwide with its charm and adaptability. When you’re feeling ready for a chop, why not give this captivating style a whirl? It's a fresh, flirty take on the classic that’s sure to turn heads and steal hearts!

Stuck Between the Wolf Cut and the Butterfly Cut? Mondo’s Guide Holds the Secrets You NEED!

We've all been there, lost in the jungle of hairstyle choices! But fear not! Brad Mondo, the hair guru, is here to rescue us from the hair drama. In his recent video, he breaks down the viral wolf cut and the dreamy butterfly cut, making sure we slice through the confusion before we take the scissors to our locks. You know Brad Mondo, right? That charming hairstylist and social media sensation, renowned for his "Hairdresser Reacts" series and brilliant hair tutorials? Well, in his latest guide, he's unraveling the mysteries behind these two trendy cuts, helping us make an informed, confident choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B38PImcGyaE So, what's the scoop? The wolf cut, it's bold, it's structured – a fusion of shag and mullet vibes with a modern twist. It’s your ‘70s throwback with a hint of sass. On the other hand, the butterfly cut is soft, flowy, and heavily layered, resembling the elegance of butterfly wings. To craft a wolf cut, your stylist will gather your mane into a top ponytail to create those edgy layers. Meanwhile, for the butterfly cut, it's all about separating the hair into twin ponytails and sculpting those layers to perfection. Similar techniques, different vibe. Let's dish out the perks! The wolf cut is an instant style statement, perfect for wavy or curly tresses, and low on maintenance. But it might not be a match made in heaven for super straight hair. Plus, if you don't style it right, it can go wild! “But also we can learn how to style our hair,” reassures Brad. Talk about a mood booster! [caption id="attachment_65600" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @langehair[/caption] Now, the butterfly cut is extremely versatile and leans toward femininity. It pumps up the volume and flatters almost any face shape. Mind that maintaining that glamorous flow demands regular trims and styling sessions to keep the magic alive. [caption id="attachment_65601" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @hamza_hairstylist[/caption] Brad hypes up how vital (and fun!) it is to know your face shape for nailing that perfect haircut every single time you hit the salon! A wolf cut is amazing for round and oval faces, giving that extra oomph and structure. In his opinion, a butterfly cut hits the jackpot with heart-shaped or square faces. It softens the angles and amps up the femininity. Styling tips, anyone? For the wolf cut, embrace your natural texture, use wave foam or sea salt spray for that casual chic vibe. Or, opt for a blowout with leave-in creams and oils for that soft, radiant glow. For the butterfly cut, swap in a volumizing foam, concentrate on the roots for mega volume, and finish with leave-in creams for that heavenly blowout. Or, if you're into texture, wave foam or sea salt spray is your jam! Wrapping it up: different vibes, different movements. A butterfly cut is weightless and ethereal. A wolf cut is edgy and statement-making. Still confused? Brad's advice is to consult a pro stylist for that personalized magic touch! When in doubt, trust Brad Mondo to guide you through the snips and clips to a fabulous, confidence-boosting haircut!

We Expect to See Lots of Slicked Back Hairstyles on New Year Parties This Year – Here Is Your Style Guide

As we gear up to pop the champagne and toss confetti into the New Year, there's one style that's stamping its mark and ready to dominate the glam scene: slicked-back hairstyles! Yes, you heard it here – this sleek, chic, and utterly fabulous hair trend is set to rule the 2024 New Year's Eve shindigs. Now, hold onto your hats, because we're diving into the inspo reel of some A-listers who’ve nailed this slicked-back game! P!nk is rocking that short platinum blonde pixie with a hint of volume. https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/actress-singer-pink-attends-the-happy-feet-two-los-angeles-news-photo/132696707?adppopup=true Hailey Bieber is bringing some innocent vibes with a neat center part and a baby bun at the back. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1Cvu0PJVPk/?img_index=5 And who can forget Kim Kardashian's show-stopping brunette locks, slicked back on top with cascading beauty at the rear? https://www.instagram.com/p/C1XoIDEyssJ/?img_index=0 Or Lizzo’s acing it with a sleek ponytail perched right on her crown? https://www.instagram.com/p/C1ENv4wLwDM/ These celeb styles scream one thing: versatility! The slicked-back look isn’t exclusive; it’s for every hair type and length. Want to join the chic squad? Here’s the lowdown on how to ace this red-carpet-worthy style for your NY bash! First off, decide that crucial hair part – middle, no part, or deep side vibes – it's your call! This decision sets the stage for your slick-back game. Craving that perfect balance? Go dead center. Need those slick combover vibes? Side part’s your go-to move! [caption id="attachment_65558" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @nickstensonbeauty[/caption] Then, prep that mane right. Don’t slick it when it’s sopping wet or desert dry! Slicking back a super wet mane is a recipe for disaster – those products will mix with the water, ruining that flawless finish you're aiming for. On the flip side, starting with Sahara-dry locks? Good luck shaping that hair into perfection – it's a tough gig. You want to get that balance just right. Now, let's talk products! For short hair, grab that mousse, work it in, blow-dry, and comb backward for oodles of volume! Long-haired beauties, mousse up at the roots, blow-dry the front back, tease for volume, and finish with hairspray to lock your slicked-back hairstyle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=1IpUd_Xojk4 Feeling the wet look? On damp hair, slick it back, gel it up, and use setting clips to seal the deal while you get your makeup glam on! [caption id="attachment_65605" align="alignnone" width="500"] @jacobrozenberg[/caption] Word of caution – product placement is key! Don't go trigger-happy; be precise to avoid a greasy disaster! Pro-tip: Texturize the back for volume and keep the heavy-duty stuff for the front slick. Wanna shine bright like a diamond? Spritz on shine-enhancing products! But why stick to the ordinary? Let's elevate this slicked-back game with extensions! Go for that high pony, a mermaid braid, or a ballerina bun – all amplified with those extra locks! Throw on some bedazzled barrettes and crystal-studded pins; they'll take your glam from zero to a hundred real quick! [caption id="attachment_65560" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @_srnhairstyles[/caption] Slicking back hair brings out the glam in you. Less gel, more dazzle – and voilà! You've got yourself a modern, glamorous, and heatless hairstyle that’s ready to conquer the night! So, whether you're aiming for that sleek sophistication or a touch of playful elegance, the slicked-back hairstyle is your go-to for the 2024 NY soirées. Get ready to slay, because this trend ain’t just for the stars; it's your time to shine!

I Thought I Hated Synthetic Wigs! It Turned Out They CAN Look Real If You Know the Right Hacks

I’ve been always prejudiced towards synthetic wigs. Ok, it can be a solution for women struggling with severe alopecia cases, but that is definitely a compromise on a beautiful natural look, I thought. My firm belief was shattered when I complimented an old acquaintance on her new hairstyle only to find out that she “loves this new synthetic wig!” Appalled by the fact you can actually make synthetic wig look that natural, I contacted a wig specialist from Irresistible Me, Kate Ross, demanding to give away all the secrets she might know. It turned out, the hacks are not difficult, even for a complete wig novice like me! So, here is your track to success! 1. Go with the Right Fibers It's important to choose a synthetic wig that’s made of high-quality fibers, like vegan fiber, to ensure it looks as natural and realistic as possible. “Vegan fiber wigs tend to have a more authentic appearance compared to other synthetic options, helping you achieve that natural effect more easily,” Kate says. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cw-9NsIrU8t/ 2. Trim It One of the first steps in making a synthetic wig look real is trimming it. Synthetic wigs may come with overly blunt or uniform ends, which can give away their artificial nature. To combat this, a small pair of sharp hair scissors can be your best friend. Kate Ross notes, “When trimming, aim for subtle layers rather than a straight cut. This creates a more natural hair movement.” And avoid overcutting! It’s better to trim in small increments than to take off too much at once. 3.Pluck the Hairline and the Part A natural hairline is key to a realistic-looking wig. Most synthetic wigs come with dense hairlines that look just too perfect to be true. Use a pair of tweezers to gently pluck the hairs along the front and sides of the wig. This will create a more natural, uneven hairline. Similarly, plucking hairs from the part can make it look more realistic. Make sure to pluck the hairs gradually to avoid creating bald spots or an overly thin hairline. https://www.tiktok.com/@theeglamnaija/video/7269537775639334190?q=pluck%20wig&t=1703752848780 4. Style It (With Caution!) Sporting different textures every now and then is closer to what we do with our own hair, so styling a wig makes it look more natural. However, before using any heated styling tools on your synthetic wig, it’s crucial to check if it’s heat-resistant. “Some synthetic wigs can tolerate low to medium heat, while others may get damaged. The wig’s label or product description should specify this,” Kate explains. If in doubt, test a small section of the wig (preferably underneath where it’s less visible) with a low heat setting. For heat-resistant wigs, use a low heat setting on your styling tools. Curling irons, flat irons, and blow dryers can be used, but always at a temperature that’s safe for synthetic fibers. Heated rollers are also a great option, as they typically operate at lower temperatures. Be cautious with hair products though! Regular hair sprays and mousses might not be suitable for synthetic wigs and can build up, causing damage over time. Look for styling products specifically formulated for synthetic hair. These products can help you achieve the desired texture and hold without harming the wig. “If your wig has a lot of styling products built up, you might use a wig-cleansing solution every few washes to ensure thorough cleaning,” Kate notes. 5. Adjust a Shade Dyeing a synthetic wig is generally not recommended, as fibers don't react to hair dye like natural hair. However, for minor adjustments, fabric dyes or specially formulated synthetic wig dyes can be used. It's a risky process that's best done by professionals or with great care! At the same time, these small adjustments can have a huge impact on the final look, as the more flattering and unique the tone of your wig is, the more authentic it looks. This is especially important for brassy blonde tones. Thankfully, using a purple shampoo is safe and effective for both synthetic and human hair wigs. https://www.tiktok.com/@dylangordon/video/7177459374527450373 6. Keep It “Healthy” Looking Natural hair can get matted and oily, but that’s not the type of “natural” you want to achieve on your wig, right? Thus, mastering a proper storage and washing routine is key. “Unlike natural hair, synthetic wigs don’t need to be washed frequently. Depending on how often you wear it, washing after every 6 to 8 wears is generally recommended,” Kate says. Over-washing can shorten the lifespan of the wig, experts warn. Also, never sleep in your wig, as this can cause tangles and matting! https://www.tiktok.com/@irresistibleme_hair/video/7259477520259599662 In the end, making your synthetic wig look real is all about a few smart tricks: a little trim here, some careful plucking there, styling it right, and keeping it well-maintained. Follow the steps in this guide, and you’ll be amazed at how natural your wig can look. It’ll be hard to tell it apart from real human hair!

You won't believe the frenzy in the world of hair care this year! As trends and top-notch products flood the shelves, it's high time we pause and take a peek at the standout champions. We've got the inside scoop from three experts dishing out the top three hair products ruling 2024. Deborah Digby-Smith, an expert in haircare solutions and products and a co-founder of Salonlove, is all about celebrating this golden era of hair products. According to her, there's a surge in demand for professional-grade products that truly deliver results. Her clients swear by her recommendations because who has time or money to waste on products that don't do the job, right? First up in Deborah's lineup of hair magic is the Eufora ElixirONE. Brace yourselves, because this little gem is like a mini spa day for your hair – enhancing shine, adding silkiness, and even protecting against styling tool damage and environmental stress. And the best part? “It is so easy to use, simply use 1 to 2 pumps and work through your hair before styling,” Deborah spills the easiest styling secret ever. [caption id="attachment_65019" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @euforainternational[/caption] Next on her list is the MalibuC Hard Water Wellness. Ever wondered why your hair feels weighed down?  “Consider how the water builds up on a glass shower door overtime, it deposits minerals on your hair in the same way,” explains Deborah. This champ rids your hair of those pesky mineral deposits, leaving it shiny and easy to manage. Bonus points for being sulfate-free and vegan-approved – no wonder it's a hit with her clients! [caption id="attachment_65023" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @malibucpro[/caption] Deborah's personal fave of 2024 is the Eufora Fresh Effect. With a busy year on her hands, this zero-weight dry shampoo has been her hair savior. Absorbing excess oil and odors, it's a quick fix for instantly refreshed, touchably soft hair. [caption id="attachment_65024" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @euforainternational[/caption] Mijan Mahmud, the brains behind Sun Trust Ltd, knows the ins and outs of the fast-paced hair game. For him, the real game-changers are the hydrating hair masks. Packed with hydrating components like hyaluronic acid and coconut oil, they're the knight in shining armor for dry, dull hair, ensuring those glossy, luscious locks we all dream of. He recommends Olaplex No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask – this concentrated powerhouse brings shine, smoothness, and intense moisture, making hair visibly healthier. [caption id="attachment_65025" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @luxuriouslookuk[/caption] He's also rooting for air-drying creams like Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It. Not only do they speed up drying time, but they're also the superheroes defining curls and waves without any heat fuss. Embrace those natural textures. [caption id="attachment_65026" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @bumbleandbumble[/caption] Scalp health takes center stage with scalp serums. “Scalp serums formulated with tea tree oil and aloe vera offered relief from dryness and itchiness while promoting a healthier scalp environment,” Mijan explains. He champions Kérastase Initialiste Advanced Scalp & Hair Serum for its prowess in restoring scalp balance and strengthening hair fibers. [caption id="attachment_65031" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @zanosalons[/caption] Liis Hainla, editor-in-chief at Vegan Avenue, shares her tried-and-tested favorites that made waves in 2024. Texturizing sprays stole the show, offering volume, tousled charm, and styling mastery for all hair types. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Liis’s go-to, adds invisible oomph and texture for days. [caption id="attachment_65032" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @oribe[/caption] Heat protectants with UV defense became the heroes, and Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray lands a spot on Liis's list, fortifying hair against heat damage while providing the goodness of conditioning detanglers. [caption id="attachment_65033" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @livingproofinc[/caption] Of course, hydrating hair masks had to make an appearance! Liis recommends the Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask, a luscious blend that revives moisture balance, injects life back into tired tresses, and gives hair a lustrous lease on life. [caption id="attachment_65034" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @moroccanoil[/caption] In closing, 2024th haircare revelations are too good to pass up!
