Top 9 Everyday Hairstyles to Create in Under 10 Minutes

Are you done with wearing the same ponytail every day and want to try something new? You don’t need a lot of time to get creative and experiment with your everyday hair. Here are a few quick and chic hairstyles to wear for work, gym, shopping, or a weekend stroll. 1. Cute Everyday Half Up Half Down Hairstyle with a Clip Making this claw clip half-up hairstyle is a breeze – yet it looks very sweet and special. Utterly versatile, it would cater to any hair texture and most hair lengths, starting with as short as a bob. [caption id="attachment_66023" align="center" width="500"] @missysueblog[/caption] 2. Braided Bun for The Coffee Run A top knot, the classic second-day hairstyle, doesn’t have to be dull. Up your high bun routine by trying a few different techniques, like this braided updo. [caption id="attachment_66024" align="center" width="500"] @itshollylc[/caption] 3. Summer Braid with a Silk Scarf Be it a ponytail, a bun or a braid, a silk scarf will add that extra-special detail to any simplest hairstyle. Weave the scarf in your hair for a perfect holiday look. [caption id="attachment_66025" align="center" width="500"] @annastubbshair[/caption] 4. Pull-Through Braid A pull-through braid is a cousin of a Dutch braid, which is made using small elastic bands. This hairstyle is way easier to create, and it holds a lot better. Besides, you can pull the braid out to create a much fuller look without making it too loose. You might need to practice the pull-through braid a couple of times, but once you nail it, it will literally be a 10-minute job. [caption id="attachment_66026" align="center" width="500"] @missysueblog[/caption] 5. Braided Ponytail There’s nothing wrong with sticking with the basics – perhaps a ponytail must be the most all-around-popular hairstyle to date. Give it a little twist by braiding the top half of your pony. [caption id="attachment_66027" align="center" width="500"] @alexgaboury[/caption] 6. Twisted Bun with a Plastic Hair Pin Hair accessories are a great way to add a pop of color to your hairstyle. Big plastic pins of all sorts are trending now, and if you are looking for an alternative to a clap clip, here’s an option for you. [caption id="attachment_66028" align="center" width="500"] @nicholeciotti[/caption] 7. Hair Down with a Band A hair band is another cute way to accessorize your hairstyle. It’s also functional as it helps to keep hair away from your face which is great both for gym and house chores. [caption id="attachment_66029" align="center" width="500"] @tokyoblondepasta[/caption] 8. Bubble Braid Keep your hair in place with this sleek bubble braid ponytail. Quick and easy to make, it’s one of those hairstyles that look more intricate than they are. [caption id="attachment_66031" align="center" width="500"] @audreyannej[/caption] 9. Double Braided Hairstyle Here’s another effortless and flattering hair ‘do. Make two braids on top of one another and pull the bottom braid through the top one. Put the ribbons on both if you like the popular bow trend. [caption id="attachment_66032" align="center" width="500"] @amberrosepeakehair[/caption] Whatever your go-to everyday hairstyle is, it is always a smart idea to chage things up! I hope these easy styles have given you enough inspiration to give it a try.

Slay the Night: Hairstylist’s 5 Hacks for Lasting Party Hairstyles

It’s a good hair day, and your party hairstyle looks on point but how do you make it last all night? Let’s talk about some core strategies to make your hair stay in place and keep you stress-free. 1. Prep is Key The more effort you put into preparing your hair, the higher the chances of long-lasting results. If we are talking about curls, it’s essential to make sure they have properly cooled down before you brush them or apply any finishing products. Use velcro rollers or small clips to let the curls set. Also, products like hair mousse or curling spray would make a lot of a difference. Apply the product on wet hair, before drying. This way it will dispense evenly and give your hair plenty of body and hold. 2. Try it Beforehand If you are looking to try something new and worry whether that hairstyle is going to last, do a trial run. Create the same look a couple of days before and see how it feels. You will not only be able to check how well it stays in but also see whether it suits you and looks as flattering as you hoped. [caption id="attachment_65610" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @bridal_hairstylist[/caption] 3. Use the Best Tools and Products It might not seem obvious, but the quality of the tools and products that you use can make a significant difference. For example, a decent ceramic or titanium curling wand will evenly heat every strand, providing long-lasting curls. Also, with good quality, sturdy bobby pins your hair will more likely stay in place. Not to mention the hairspray – it’s so worth investing in a professional product. A good hairspray goes a long way and as a bonus, always smells lovely. 4. Avoid Humidity at All Costs Humidity can ruin any hairstyle – hair goes flat and frizzy, and the curls drop. Therefore, the best strategy to keep your party hair intact is to stay away from the damp where possible. Don’t enter the bathroom after someone has just had a hot shower and avoid using a steamer when your hair is already done. If it’s just even slightly drizzling, try not to go outside, unless completely necessary. [caption id="attachment_65609" align="aligncenter" width="500"] @bridal_hairstylist[/caption] 5. Take an Umbrella with You Of course, the point is not to stay inside the whole night and just sit with a straight back to make sure every strand stays in place. Yet such a simple thing as an umbrella can significantly affect your look. Not to sound overly dramatic, but even if you just need to nip out to get into and out of a taxi, if it’s raining – it doesn’t take a lot to damage your curls. You learn you have great hair when you don’t think about it during the night – you just know it’s right. Following those easy steps will hopefully ensure your hair survives all the dancing and make you feel confident and happy!

A Quick Stylist’s Guide: Here Is How to Use Hairspray for Your Party Hairstyle

Hairspray is undoubtedly a staple product for shiny, chic and long-lasting hairstyles. Ahead, I’ve rounded up some key principles on how to use hairspray to lock your party hairstyle in place. What Type of Hairspray to Choose? It can be a challenge to pick a product that works, instead of creating more clutter on your dressing table. Let’s look at different types of hairsprays and see what will be the best fit for your purpose. Volumizing hairsprays are great for the length. Be it bouncy waves, a half-up half-down hairstyle, or a ponytail - you want to keep the natural movement of your hair. If a ‘helmet head’ look is not something you are after, look for a can that says ‘volumizing’, ‘medium hold’, or ‘flexible’. This type of product will protect your locks from humidity and preserve their shape without weighing them down. The result will be easy to brush and natural. Texturizing sprays often have no hold and can be mainly used to create definition and texture. This is something you’d be looking for to give your waves that beachy look or zhuzh up your pixie. Any hairspray that’s marked as ‘strong hold’ or ‘finishing’ is suitable for sleek updos, taming the flyaways, or as a final touch, when your hairstyle is ready. How to Use a Hairspray for the Best Results? The whole thing seems to be intuitive, but I can still see lots of women make basic mistakes here. Here are a few tips and tricks to remember: Always spray from a distance. Keep the can at least 30 cm (12 inches) from your hair and spray in a short, precise motion. When spraying your curls, work in layers and make sure the product gets onto every strand. Don’t blast it just all over the top, it won’t do much for you apart from a stiff, crusty finish. If you would like to tame the baby hairs, spray a small amount of hairspray and use a small brush to smooth down the frizz. You might also just use your fingers or the back of the comb. For extra volume, spray some medium hold hairspray into the root area, working row-by-row each way from the parting (please avoid the scalp). Brush it all towards the back and let your hair part naturally. What to do if your hairspray isn’t spraying? It may happen sometimes that your hairspray isn’t working or comes out crooked. Don't rush to throw it away! Most likely, there’s some residue inside the nozzle. Put it under hot water for a few minutes and wipe the nozzle. It should work now. A side note worth sharing: did you know that all the hair oils and shine spray diminish the strength of a hairspray? Use those products in moderation if you want your hairstyle to last all night!

3 Best Ways to Achieve Bouncy Waves for the Party Season [Pro Tips Included]

Have you decided how to style your hair for the upcoming New Year parties? If you are still uncertain, there’s one safe option that never lets you down. Bouncy waves are a no-brainer for any hair type, length and thickness. Here are some easy ideas of how to achieve this glam and sassy look in no time. Bouncy Waves with a Curling Iron Using a curling iron is probably the most versatile way to create bouncy waves that can last a few days. The key tip is to let your hair cool down in the right shape. That’s why it is recommended to set them in Velcro rollers or if you don’t have those, use some clips. Even holding the curl on your palm for a few seconds will be helpful. If your hair doesn't hold curls particularly well, don’t brush them out until shortly before leaving the house. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cz9INBNoynU/ Heatless Waves Heatless waves have taken over the world and we see why. Easy to create, zero harm to your hair and a flawless, salon-worthy look. Here’s the main tip: sleep on your back. To make your waves last, apply some mousse on your wet hair before twisting. Also, work with just slightly damp hair, to make sure it gets fully dry overnight. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CjJRO1TDBRA/ Are you hesitant to buy a new hair appliance, that might potentially end up in the cupboard like some of its predecessors (we won’t tell anyone)? Try a bathroom robe belt technique instead: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpLY5PFjTOW/ This method is great for those with medium to long hair. However, you can use it on short hair as well and here’s a detailed lesson on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJRvcYfOSQs Dyson Airwrap Waves If you are debating whether you should get yourself a Dyson or have one already and would like to up your styling game, we have answers for you in this section. https://www.instagram.com/p/CvFhtI6gO2G/ We all have a friend who can create total hair envy with their airwrap, and also, a friend who invested in this hairdryer and ended up disappointed. The truth is, the Dyson Airwrap is a great tool but, in most cases, it doesn't work for those with stick-straight hair. If your strands are ultra-fine and never hold a curl, unfortunately, there’s no point in buying this styler. The same applies to those with an extra-long, heavy mane. Who would suit a Dyson Airwrap? If your hair is medium length (ideally layered), it holds curls very well and if you like blowout type of waves, airwrap will work miracles for you. How to make your Dyson curls last? Here are some essential tips for you: Work in small to medium sections. Your hair must be slightly damp (wet hair won’t dry quickly enough and dry hair won’t curl). Apply some mousse or curl spray. Let your hair cool down before brushing the curls out. Finish with hairspray. Talking of the long life of your waves, there is a common misconception that the more hairspray you apply, the longer the waves will last. This actually is not true. You have to be strategic, so to speak, and make sure spray gets onto virtually every strand and ‘wraps’ in around. Overly excessive use of products will weigh hair down and cause quite the opposite effect. Another myth is that second-day hair is better at holding waves or curls. While sebum (the natural oils produced by your scalp) can help to tame frizz, it by no means will not improve the longevity of the waves. Hopefully, you found some of these bouncy wave ideas useful and they will help you look even more beautiful during the party season.

A Tutorial of a French Twist Updo We All Have Been Obsessing Over Lately

One of the hottest current trends, a high twisted bun is not only elegant and chic but also surprisingly easy to do yourself. If you were puzzled about how to create this cool high bun type of hairstyle, this step-by-step tutorial by Missy Sue is a breeze. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHWUIKrGsY8 Start by dividing the top half of your hair at your ears and go up to the crown of your head. Clip this section away for now. Brush all the remaining hair to the right and put a few bobby pins vertically in the middle – this would create a base for the rest of the hair to be pinned into. Now wrap the ends gently toward the left and twist them up towards the top of your head, so the ends are left out of the twist. Take a few bobby pins and slide them in towards the center. Make sure you feel your hair is secured in place. At your next step, let the top part down and combine it with the ends of the twisted section. You will need to create a bun that will be sitting on top of your head, over the twist. To achieve this, take an elastic band and make a ponytail at the point where you would like the bun to be. On the last wrap of the elastic band, only pull the hair partially through to create a small loop of the hair. Leave the ends facing forward, towards your face, and backcomb them to create extra volume. Place this hair over the little loop, so the ends are hanging back towards the back of your head. Spread them out evenly and pin the strands at the base. Your twisted high bun is ready. As you must have noticed, this hairstyle is a hybrid of the high bun and a twist. It means that you get the best out of these two updos – plenty of volume at the crown, a pronounced detail at the back, and a soft, sophisticated look. If you are looking for an even easier way to put your hair up in a twist, you might like this tutorial on how to put your hair up with a claw clip: https://www.instagram.com/p/CxVHueAMC_m/?hl=en-gb Is your hair uber thick and heavy? There’s an option for you too: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cx6JdcbvKuf/?hl=en-gb Perfect for the festive season or just a night out, these hairstyles are well worth giving it a try, so Happy New Styling to you!
